Last greetings from Christian ENCOUNTERS 2020 in Graz
Unfortunately Christian ENCOUNTERS had to be canceled due to Covid-19 pandemic. We send you last greetings with some questions the youth ask our church leaders that we as well should answer for ourselves. We look forward to meeting you "face to face" at the next Christian ENCOUNTERs.
What can we do to fight prejudices against immigrants?
What actions can we take to combat environmental change?
This playlist collects all videos that have been made for and thanks to Christian Encounters 2020. This gives us the opportunity to celebrate together at least digitally to keep the idea "from face to face" in our hearts until we meet again at future Christian Encounters.
A European event with a background
Christian ENCOUNTERS is a European event with a background! Following the fall of the Iron Curtain, Protestant Christians from the Lutheran churches in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic created a meeting point for the first time in 1991. Even more than 25 years on from that first initiative, central European Protestant churches continue to meet every three years, each time in a different country.
The three Protestant churches in Austria – the Protestant Church A.C., the Protestant Church H.C. and the United Methodist Church in Austria – are issuing a joint invitation to Christian ENCOUNTERS 2020. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Graz-Seckau is co-organising the event.
We look forward to welcoming our European neighbours to Austria!
Statement about Christian ENCOUNTERS
“I have to be present in person if I wish to meet someone face to face. The word ‘face’ is both a noun and the corresponding verb – for me, this kind of encounter means looking the other person directly in the eye and talking as I would to a friend, as equals (Exodus 33:11). I wish for all of us to manage this at least once during Christian Encounters 2020 in Graz.”
